I work at a residential care facility and I have looked everywhere for a couple of exercises I can do with wheelchair-bound patients. Anything you can suggest would be great.
Wheelchair exercise will help increase strength, flexibility, and muscle-tone, aid mobility and self-esteem, help control weight and aid digestion. Many people in wheelchairs still have the upper-body strength required for exercise. Wheelchair exercise will also help alleviate the shoulder, neck and back strain that wheelchair users often experience.
You can find some Wheelchair Exercises on the following site (Gem Staffing, Inc.)
Or search also for 'wheelchair workout' on Google. I have seen it on YouTube too!
This exercise machine (AKCESS Compact) gets a lot of attention! Search Google for wheelchair exercise.
This page at AMS Vans has some basic information about exercising in a wheelchair
