Are You At Risk of Developing Type 2 Diabetes?

Diabetes is a disease that affects the body's ability to break down and absorb sugar. Type 2 diabetes, or adult-onset diabetes, is the most common form - it represents 90% to 95% of all diabetics.

Roughly 16 million Americans have diabetes, and about one-third are unaware that they have the disease.

Undetected and uncontrolled diabetes can have serious side effects, such as blindness, heart disease, nerve disease and kidney disease.

This test, which should be used only as a guideline, is based on information from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (the CDC). See Herman WH, Smith PJ, Thompson TJ, et al. Diabetes Care, Volume 18, Number 3, March 1995.
