Articles on Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease is a degenerative disease of the central nervous system that often impairs motor skills, speech and other functions. It is characterized by muscle rigidity, tremor, a slowing of physical movement (bradykinesia), and in extreme cases, a loss of physical movement (akinesia).

This chronic disorder requires broad-based management including patient and family education, support group services, general wellness maintenance, physiotherapy, exercise and nutrition. Currently there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, but medications or surgery can provide relief from the symptoms.
