Question

My niece has been diagnosed with morphea scleroderma on her face. She's only 11. Can you tell me more about this condition?

Answer

The word "scleroderma" means "hardening of the skin" and refers to one of the possible physical effects of the disease. Localized scleroderma is referred to as morphea or linear scleroderma and does not affect the internal organs. People who develop localized scleroderma usually do not develop generalized scleroderma.

There are a number of treatments for localized scleroderma. The links below may be helpful to you in learning more.
