Low potassium level

Low potassium level (or Hypokalemia)

Low potassium levels, a condition called hypokalemia, occurs when the level of potassium in your blood is lower than normal. Some of the symptoms of low potassium are fatigue and muscle weakness. Blood tests and electrocardiograms are used to diagnose low potassium levels.   Question My doctor said that I appeared to be on a low potassium. What are the dangers of having a low potassium? I am Over Weight and Smoking after Heart Attack but want to Stop my Medication?

Question I am 42 years of age, have high cholesterol and triglyceride levels, which I am medicated for and since my heart attack last year I have tried and tried to both quit smoking and lose weight. I take 6 pills a day - Crestor - Tricor - Zetia - Altace - Metoprolol and Plavix. I want to stop all these and see what happens but realize that since I had a Heart Attack and a Stent inserted that I will need to take something. Read more

Concern over Dad's memory loss, confusion and mood swings

Question My Dad has trouble remembering, but he doesn't have any problems in everyday living. However, if he falls asleep sitting up, and then wakes up, he is confused and has a mood swing.
