  ABOUT RESPIRATORY DISEASES
Acute respiratory diseases - coughs, colds, bronchitis, even pneumonia - are relatively short-lived and most can be easily curtailed with today's drugs. Chronic conditions within the respiratory system, like asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema, are more difficult to treat, and are responsible for considerable disability in people as they age.
