Think green when it comes to healthy eating
Reported by Susan Aldridge, PhD, medical journalist
St Patrick's Day is a reminder that green is good, especially when it comes to a nutritious diet.
Today is St Patrick's Day - an event that has led doctors at Baylor Health Care System to praise the color green! Especially where food is concerned - for they have put together a list of seven green superfoods that you use to benefit your health - both on St Patrick's Day and for the rest of the year.
For cancer prevention, broccoli, green tea and collard greens have all the right ingredients. Spinach is rich in iron, which wards off anemia, and green (or red) apples contain soluble and insoluble fiber. Two large apples a day could significantly lower your cholesterol levels. Meanwhile, asparagus is rich in folate which helps the heart and kiwi fruit are one of the best sources of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant.
We all know that eating more fruit and vegetables is a good way of improving health, both now and in the future. Thinking green is a good way of getting the most out of this advice.
