Checklists to Help You Stay Healthy

June Chen, MD

The US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the AARP have released two new checklists that are designed to help men and women over the age of 50 learn how to stay healthy.

These checklists incorporate recommendations from the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) regarding healthy lifestyle behaviors, preventive medicines, and screening tests, specifically targeted at people age 50 and older. The USPSTF is the leading independent panel of medical experts in prevention and primary care. The easy-to-read checklists are available in both English and Spanish, and they can be printed out to take to doctor's visits or to record test results and follow-up appointments.

Called 'Checklists for Your Health,' these brochures are a convenient tool that can be used to promote health and prevent disease among the growing number of Americans over the age of 50.
