Prioritize Children's Health

As to what I have read, indigenous children were still twice as likely as other children to be of low birth weight, to be hospitalized for chronic conditions, diabetes and to die before the age of 20. These children needs holistic health care for them to be saved.

According to the Keenan Research Centre at the University of Toronto's Indigenous Children's Health Report [available at http://www.stmichaelshospital.com/pdf/crich/chr_report.pdf], there are striking health disparities between indigenous and non-indigenous children. In Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, indigenous children have higher rates of infant mortality, sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), injury, death, suicide, infections, cavities, and exposure to environmental contaminants including tobacco smoke. For those who are interested, this report examines the roots of these health disparities, documents differences in access to healthcare, and suggests strategies for change.
