I am a fit 71 year old. My doctors have diagnosed early stage prostate cancer, which will be treated with radiation therapy. Can I continue with my fitness program?
If the prostatic cancer is localised within the prostatic capsule, and can be treated by local therapy, then there is no reason for you to alter your lifestyle in any way. If you regularly exercise, then this can continue. Indeed, it is most important to keep a positive attitude to the illness and to not develop an introverted, patient-orientated mentality. My general advice would be to continue all the things that give you pleasure and even to do them more.
