Can you give me a step by step protocol for constraint-induced (CI) stroke therapy? What sort of routine is used, and for how long?
For the upper limb, CI therapy involves inducing the use of the more-affected side for a target of 90% of the waking hours by using one of several methods of constraint of the less-affected arm. Concentrated, repetitive training of the affected limb is given for 6-7 hours a day for a 2-3 week period. For lower-limb paralysis the procedure is the same, but without constraint of the lesser-affected leg.
